The funniest comment I heard regarding this photo was a proposed title, "End of a Bug's Life". I later found out this bird is the Western Tanager. Posted by Hello

Another pretty park scene. Posted by Hello

This is what the boys and I did Sunday, 6-26: Eldorado State park. I found out about a photo contest and thought it was a good excuse to see a new park. In this picture, if you look very closely, you can see climbers scaling the face of this rock.  Posted by Hello

There were lots of little guppies in the shallows. Posted by Hello

The marina at Chatfield is popular with the Petersen boys for its well stocked snack shack. Posted by Hello

We saw many goslings Monday. The parents were definitely wary, even from a distance (this shot was with my telephoto lens). Posted by Hello

No, they're not praying to the Resevoir spirit, they're looking for throwing rocks. This was taken at Chatfield Resevoir State Park 6-27. Posted by Hello

Their sundial is running slow. It was 2-ish. Posted by Hello

This is the easy hummingbird photographing location. On the trail we found a number of red tubelike flowers, but the birds seemed to like coming here better. Posted by Hello

Rowan really enjoyed the fine dust that covered the trail. Posted by Hello

Kai leans in and makes a silly smile to thwart my photographic efforts. Posted by Hello

Applesauce is the mid-trail snack of choice. Posted by Hello

There are mountian lions in the area and the visitor center provides walking sticks for self protection if not for walking. The boys thought this was absoluely the best. We didn't see any mountain lions, but lots of great bugs. :) Posted by Hello

This is a beautiful view of the hogbacks at Roxborough State Park. Posted by Hello

I have no idea who this little girl is, but during the recital, her class danced to "Robot Parade" by They Might Be Giants which Theo and I thought was amazingly cool. Posted by Hello

Again, I wish I'd had better lighting. Everything is harder at 1/60s. I like Kai's expression here. He is comfortable, happy, at ease, without the goofy showing-off faces and postures that show up when he feels the need to draw attention to himself. Posted by Hello

Here's Kai on stage, about to perform "Zippity Do Da". This is his first time on stage with his tap shoes. Posted by Hello

I love how simple it is now. They love dancing and they love being onstage and showing a whole auditorium what they've learned. I hope Rowan can keep this. Posted by Hello

Did I mention I hate photographing indoors? It's really hard to get pictures when the boys are on stage. The lighting is almost nonexistant. Enough griping. Rowan and his class did a stellar job on stage, doing all the steps and jumping with enthusiasm. Posted by Hello

Keeping up with the boys

The boys are adjusting nicely to lack of school. I'm not adjusting quite as easily. The weather has been unpredictable, but it's been warm enough to go out in search of bugs and spiders, release our wintering garter snake and inflate a pool. Not quite warm enough to comfortably swim in the pool -- unless you are Kai.

Kai is reading everything he can get his hands on... so we've had to relocate the porn. I was hoping he wouldn't be literate so soon. Rowan is running everywhere, "Just like Dash." He's got the expression right and the short, fast steps.

I'll upload the latest pictures.
