Jasmine Appearing at the DMNS

DMNS is Denver Museum of Nature and Science, bye the by. Jasmine saw her first movie, it was "Black Holes" at the Gates Planetarium and I think her lack of depth perception added to the experience. She also liked their flashing colored lights outside the theatre.

Doesn't she look like a rock star? Posted by Picasa

Jasmine at the Moon Festival and Dental Update

I think her favorite part was the applause. She loves clapping her hands and shouting "Yea!"

Today (Oct 26th), Li Mei went under general anesthesia to have her teeth cleaned, x-rayed and to fix any existent cavities, perform root canals, extractions, etc. The boys and I were ready for a long wait at the hospital but we'd barely sat down and they were done.

The dentist reported that other than the obvious tartar and calculus (no, I'm not talking mathematics here) she had beautiful teeth and no dental problems. The staff at Children's Hospital said it was the first time they'd only had to do a cleaning in this situation. In the recovery room we found out she likes jello and popcicles. Despite the minor work, she's been sleeping since she was discharged around noon. Posted by Picasa

Bored at the Moon Festival Pagent

The day after the actual Moon Festival we went to a sort of Chinese community talent and culture show, celebration. I got them a little bit of culture before they started to rebel. Posted by Picasa

Early October Snowball Fight II

We don't seem to actually get much snow in the winter. We only get precipitation in the Fall and Spring, the rest of the time we're desert-ish. Posted by Picasa

Early October Snowball Fight I

This was a week ago, today it's been really deep snow. Hopefully we'll warm up before Halloween. Posted by Picasa

OGMO Found

I haven't posted since the Moon Festival, as you can see. That night OGMO ("Oh Great Maned One" as named by my pal Julie W.) wandered away. He's a fourteen-year-old, nearly blind, diabetic, neutered cat. I adopted him as a kitten from the Dumb Friends League the same day my first cat, Meow aged 17, died.

Anyhow, for ten days or so, he was missing. At night I could hear the coyotes yipping, during the day foxes nest in our backyard. The last few days were freezing and snowing. I was depressed and lost hope for him. Then one neighbor called and had seen him, then another neighbor called and told me to look at the Buddy Center's web site. I'd put in a report of a lost cat, but somehow it wasn't matched to him when he came in.

The picture below is what I saw -- my own beloved goofball. He'd been picked up the day before the big snow and was found about a block from my house next to the "LOST CAT NAMED OGMO" sign. It wasn't till I actually got him home that I had a real good cry about the whole thing. Other than a slight intestinal infection and going from 17 pounds to 12, he's doing great, happy to be home and sleeping at my feet again.

Moon gazers

They got to stay up past their bedtime and horse around in the dark with lanterns and food. Moon Festival ROCKS! Posted by Picasa

Magic Lanterns

Okay, it's really a slow shutter speed, tripod and wind blowing our homemade, battery-powered lanterns around. Posted by Picasa

Happy Moon Festival!

Another Arteeeest in the Family

The first time that I pulled out the finger paints she got a little paint on her fingers and then looked at me. The second time, she half-heartedly copied my swirling designs in the paint. Third time's a charm. When I saw her feeling her lunch and enjoying the texture of pureed turkey, green beans and steamed rice, I thought today might be the day. Posted by Picasa
