Jasmine's taken to calling herself a "princess". If it weren't for her sword fighting prowess, I'd be worried. Here she is at the "Fight A Scot" booth with an accomodating young man.
Though the sword is bamboo, it doesn't hide the blood lust in her eyes.
She sword fights with her brothers a lot. You wouldn't know she's legally blind and four years old, huh? She's amazingly athletic, so unlike the rest of us (my father is fond of pointing out).
They adore sword fighting. We go through foam swords, Granddad foam-reinforced plastic tubing swords, pine swords, bamboo swords, plastic swords, imaginary swords, Barbie-shaped swords, cardboard swords, marker swords, chopstick swords, miniature plastic foo-foo cocktail drink swords...
It's really quite amazing. We get a few minor bonks, but really they're quite tame generally. They do stage their own "blooper reels" though. Maybe I should cut back on the Jackie Chan movies.
There are some rather cheap but sturdy pirate type swords suitable for the local rec center at ToysRUs.
I'm a mom of three incredible children. I also do quilting, photography, math geek stuff, computer wrangling, origami, and entomology-arachnology geek stuff.
